The EDGE Conference 2025: TOGETHER 25

June 13, 2025

The EDGE TOGETHER 25 Conference took place over the 4th and 5th of June at the Hilton Heathrow T5, London. This conference marked EDGE’s 25th anniversary and was ran by the University of Southampton and the Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU).

Our Portfolio Manager Mr Shane Jackson organised a delegation of our NICRN administration team from across the BHSCT, SHSCT and NHSCT who attended the two day conference. The event was a celebration of 25 years of sharing, learning and innovating.

The conference was hosted by Prof James Batchelor, CIRU Director and Fergus Walsh, BBC Medical Editor, with the aim of ‘shaping the next 25 years of research excellence’. The conference brings together many different EDGE users from all over the world together to allow the sharing of best practices, knowledge and EDGE utilisation.

Whilst keynote speakers and group panels introduced and closed both days, allowing for audience Q&As. Breakout sessions were also held throughout the two days, covering topics such as; finance, Power BI, EDGE functionality, pharmacy, delegation logs, collaborations and workflows.

Real research stories were delivered each morning, allowing for patients and/or their parents to express their personal stories/experiences of being involved in research. These stories really emphasis why research matters and the importance of recording clinical research data.

We were very proud to have Mr Shane Jackson, NI Regional Portfolio Manager, recognised at conference by the EDGE team for his diligent engagement with the EDGE team alongside colleagues from EPIC Systems Corporation to ensure we had as seamless a transition as possible for the deployment of ENCOMPASS across the HS Trust environments. Shane has been working on this project for 18 months, preparing and managing the deployment to ensure it was fit for purpose. We are so pleased this large body of work has been recognised by the EDGE team.

Congratulations and well deserved!
