NICRN Dementia nurses run stand in BCH for Dementia Awareness Week.

October 20, 2025

As part of Dementia Awareness Week, Eileen Fox and Sharon Marks from the neurodegeneration team held a stand on Monday the 15th of October 2025 in the foyer of the BCH.

The Alzheimer’s Society run the week as a campaign to raise awareness, promote early diagnosis, provide support and encourage action.

The aim of the day was to highlight the different forms of dementia, the role of research in advancing medical care for those with a dementia diagnosis and sign post family members to local resources such as the Dementia navigation service and memory rehabilitation clinic.

We had an extensive array of booklets for patients, family members and staff working within the hospital to take, as well as some aids and devices to assist those living with a cognitive impairment to deal better with everyday functional activities.

The morning proved to be a great success. Our nurses were able to engage with members of the public and promote the role of research in shaping future clinical care. The stand received positive feedback from all.
