NICRN Stroke celebrate Stroke Prevention Day 2026 RVH Stand!!!
February 16, 2026
Thursday 29th of January marked Stroke Prevention Day in the UK, an important annual reminder of the steps we can all take to reduce our risk of stroke. Prevention focuses on recognising and managing the key factors that contribute to stroke, including high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, and atrial fibrillation. Early detection and effective management of these conditions can significantly reduce stroke risk and improve long‑term health outcomes.
To support this awareness initiative, the NICRN Stroke Research Team—represented by Kate VernonKelly—joined forces with Stroke Association representative Sharlene (Dietitian), Ellen, Farah (Beech Hall Wellbeing Team), Fiona McCabe (Stop Smoking Specialist) and Clinical Educator Maira from the Stroke Ward. Together we hosted an information stand in the main foyer of RVH, offering guidance, educational materials, and practical advice.

The event was a great success, helping staff, patients, and visitors learn more about stroke prevention and the resources available across our services.
