NICRN GI hosts stand in RVH for Crohn’s & Colitis awareness week
January 6, 2026
The Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network Gastrointestinal team organised an information stand at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Wednesday 10th December, as part of Crohn’s & Colitis awareness week. It was an excellent turn-out with public and staff engaging very well.

The public interacted with the team, sharing their experiences and emphasising the significance of early symptom recognition. There was a strong interest from the public in understanding clinical research. Furthermore, some BHSCT staff were interested in potential studies and the process of conducting research trials, which the team discussed. The team highlighted Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network’s Gastrointestinal research, including the MAP study for Crohn’s disease, and Duet UC study.

Educational materials from Crohn’s & Colitis UK support group were also accessible to the public.
There was a great response from both staff and service users. Many thanks to all who attended and engaged.
